FileStation is an online storage space with no accounts. There is nothing to sign up for, no email to hand over, and no app to install — pick a space name and a password, and everyone who knows both opens the same files and the same note in any browser.
How it works, in three steps
1. Create a space
From the home page, pick a space name (1 to 50 characters) and a password (at least 4 characters). No email address, no confirmation link.
2. Upload your files
Signing in opens a file desktop. Drag files onto it, or right-click to upload — up to 50 files at a time. Images, video, PDFs, and text files preview right in the browser, so nobody has to download them first.
3. Hand over the name and password
Whoever has both sees the whole set of files on any device, and can upload, download, or delete too. The shared note beside the files holds links and messages that everyone can edit.
How this differs from a one-off file transfer
Most free file-sharing sites send a file once: you get a download link, and it is deleted after 7 to 30 days. FileStation behaves more like a shared folder that needs no account:
Files do not expire
Files and the shared note stay until somebody deletes them or deletes the space. There is no countdown and no automatic clean-up.
The same space keeps working
You do not generate a fresh link for every share. Once someone has the name and password, everything you upload later is already waiting for them.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to create an account?
- No. FileStation has no personal accounts and never asks for an email address. A space is a name plus a password, and everyone who signs in shares one identity and the same permissions.
- Do files expire or get deleted automatically?
- No. Unlike one-off transfer services, a FileStation space is persistent: files and the shared note stay until somebody deletes them or deletes the space itself. Once deleted they cannot be recovered — we keep no backups of deleted data.
- Is there a size or file-count limit?
- Each space has a 1 GB storage quota, and uploads that would exceed it are rejected. A single upload can carry up to 50 files; split larger batches across several uploads.
- Does the password expire? What if I forget it?
- The password never expires on its own — it stays valid until somebody changes it. It is stored only as a salted hash that we cannot reverse, so a forgotten password cannot be recovered or reset. Keep it somewhere safe. Changing the password in settings signs out every other browser, including your own other devices.
- Is it secure? Who can see my files?
- The password is the only thing protecting a space. Anyone who knows the space name and password has full access — uploading, downloading, deleting files, and deleting the space itself — so choose a strong password and share it only with people you trust. To limit password guessing, too many failed sign-ins for the same space and IP address lock that IP for 15 minutes.
- Does it work on a phone? Do I need an app?
- There is nothing to install. FileStation runs in the browser on phones, tablets, and computers — Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac, and Linux alike.
- Can several people use the same space at once?
- Yes. When someone uploads or deletes a file, every other signed-in browser updates on its own. The shared note is the one thing to watch: simultaneous edits overwrite each other, and the last save wins.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. FileStation is free to use and carries no ads. The service is still in Beta and development is ongoing, so use it at your own risk and keep a separate backup of anything important.
